When: monthly during the action meeting
Where: (please see action-meeting event listing)
What: We dedicate a short portion of the regular first Tuesday action meeting to discussing our reading–specifically the check-in (of course, this is optional and people can check in as they wish). You can comment on what you found interesting about the reading or how you see the reading intersecting with our work. We are currently reading Sister Outsider by Audre Lorde. Beginning with the June action meeting, we will be discussing Just Action by Richard Rothstein and Leah Rothstein. Please see the listing for the next action  meeting for details.

Grassroots Alexandria Action Meeting
When: Monday, May 6, 7-9pm
What: This will be a joint meeting of project leaders and team members working on Education, Healthcare, Housing, Immigrant Communities, and Transportation Equity. We will be updating each other on immediate concerns, such as local school policies and affordable housing, and the proposed Medicare For All resolution. We will discuss ongoing projects: affordable housing, climate/transportation/equity, getting ICE out of Alexandria, restorative practices in ACPS, and much more.
Where: A private home in the Del Ray neighborhood, about 1 mile from the Braddock Rd Metro station. Please RSVP to jonathan@jonathankrall.net for exact address

At our meeting, we will check in with each other, hear from project leaders, and consider next steps. We will also discuss how we as a group work together. Everyone is encouraged to attend and ask questions. Grassroots Alexandria works in small groups focused on specific projects. We hold an action meeting (usually) on the 1st Monday each month. New volunteers are always welcome (and needed) to join us and learn about our work.

Members of the GrA Reading Group can share a thought or two about the latest reading during check-in. We are reading the next chapter (Grenada Revisited: An Interim Report) of Sister Outsider, by Audre Lorde.
